Final Results: UTofMB

We were pleased to host our annual Awards Night and present the winners in our Ultimate Trails of Manitoba series on November 4, 2023, at the Centre culturel franco-manitobain.

We got to celebrate YOU, the MATR members who raced across the province at 14 trail races, donated your time to volunteering at them, and joined us to cover over 500km of trail at our trail work parties!

Top Participants

We are pleased to present the Top 3 participant awards in 2023 to:

1st place: Josh Markham - Josh earned his points in all possible ways, racing (impressively, might we add) in multiple trail races and volunteering at others; plus, Josh joined us when we first launched our group snowshoe stomp events to trail pack for winter use!

2nd place: Dave Bergbusch - It was actually a tie for second place, but we broke the tie with the member who had the most trailwork points, which put Dave Bergbusch in second. Dave raced at multiple events this year and set aside several of his Saturdays to join us on the Centennial Trail to make sure it was in tip-top shape all year.

3rd place: Chris Goetz - Chris participated prolifically at Manitoba trail races this year. By our math, he ran just about every event! Now that’s some serious time on feet!

Congratulations to Tara Loader and Barb Sousa for placing 4th and 5th in the series, respectively.

New Awards

This year, we were excited to unveil two new awards in the series, thanks for the support of sponsors at our top sponsorship tier.

Urban Trail Canada sponsors the Guardian of the Trail Award and recognizes the MATR member with the most combined points from volunteers at trail work events AND races this year! This year, the award recipient is Yuvraj Rathore.

City Park Runners sponsors the new Guts & Grit Award. This award recognizes the grit and determination it takes to be our racing ALL day and recognizes a MATR member who has the most combined points from finishing in the back of the pack at races. This year, the award recipient is Barb Sousa.
