Single Track Sunday
When: 10:00 am at the trailhead, run by 10:15 am
Where: Wolf Ridge, Grand Beach Provincial Park - Meet at the Ancient Beaches trail head.
Join us for another Single Track Sunday of good friends, good company, and great trails. This is a family-friendly run, and we invite you to bring your little trail runners for some trail time with us.
Grand Beach Provincial Park usually offers the best conditions for shoulder season running, and with April weather, we’re never sure what we’re going to get. There could be a bit of snowpack left, but if it’s been mild and melty, the sandy, well-drained soil and rocky trails mean we can run on it without causing damage to the trail.
We’ll plan a route for little legs that gives them a taste of Wolf Ridge and Ancient Beaches trail. For adults, we’ll follow the official Wolf Ridge loops, which is approximately 7.2 km.
We’ll use the parking lot as our staging area (snack stops, etc). We’ll hang out at the trailhead after our run (there are a couple of picnic tables) and use the winter-warming huts if it’s cooler. We’ll plan to make a fire in the warming hut if it’s cold.
Bring some snacks to share!
We try to organize a carpool before each event to reduce the number of vehicles at trailheads and reduce our group emissions. If you’re interested in carpooling, please email us at info@matr.ca with your name and area of the city. We’ll try to connect people interested in carpooling in advance.
Hot Tip: Have a change of clothes and shoes for the ride home.
NOTE: We’re all-weather people and run under all conditions. However, this event may be rescheduled if the road conditions make travelling unsafe on the day.
