When: 9 am on the main lawn by the beach in Wasagaming/9:30 am at Wishing Well
Where: Lakeshore Extravaganza, Riding Mountain National Park area
Carpool Info: The run leader will NOT be leaving from Winnipeg this week. If you’d like to carpool from Winnipeg, please let us know, and we’ll do our best to help connect people. If you’d like to drive out from Winnipeg for the day, meet at 5:30 am at Big Sky Run Co at 194 Taché Ave and leave by 5:45 am to make it to Wasagming for the meetup. Please arrive on time if you'd like to carpool.
We’re heading for a lakeshore run featuring the North Shore Trail in Riding Mountain National Park. This run follows the trail system that runs along the shore of Clear Lake from the main beach out to the Spruces Picnic area.
We have a couple of options for how you can join us for this run!
Run from Wishing Well to Spruces to cover ~8.6km
Be there by 9:30 am
We plan to park a vehicle at Spruces with snacks, which can be used for people running point-to-point to get back to town. Email us if you can help!
The parking at Wishing Well isn’t very large and you may need to park in the boat launch parking area a few hundred meters down the road if you start at Wishing Well with us.
There are long drop toilets at both Wishing Well and Spruces picnic area.
Run from Wishing Well to Spruces & return to cover ~17km
If you’re keen on a longer run on the day, the run leader will be running from the main beach area to Spruces and back
Run from the Main Beach to Spruces to cover ~13.75km
We plan to park a vehicle at Spruces with snacks, which can be used for people running point-to-point to get back to town. Email us if you can help!
Run from Main Beach to Spruces & return to cover ~27.5km. View route.
If you start from the Main beach with us, you can also turn around at Wishing Well and return to town to cover ~11.4km.
Be aware of rocks and roots on the trail. We expect there to be bugs and bears and encourage naturally forming pace groups to stick together on the trail.
This is a group run for people of all abilities - we’re tried to include several options for this run to cater to multiple levels.
Our plan is to stop at Spruces for a snack break and hop in the lake at Spruces to cool down before the return run. We’ll have a car parked there with snacks. Email us if you can help us shuttle some vehicles for one-way runners or if you’d like to share something with the group. This will also allow people an option to run to Spruces one way only and drive back to Wasagaming.
This is a self-supported run. Please ensure you come prepared with proper shoes, a hydration pack, and your essentials, including but not limited to food/snacks and at least 1.5-2L of hydration with electrolytes.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and effort.
Hot Tip: Have extra food and change clothes/shoes for the ride home.
