When: 8 am at the trailhead
Where: Mantario Teaser To Caribou
Carpool Info: Email info@matr.ca if you might be interested in carpooling from Winnipeg. We’ll leave central Winnipeg at 6 am
This fun run will be ~25km in length (out and back) and rated as MODERATE to DIFFICULT. You can expect a variety of terrain. Some hilly sections at the start, shady and open areas, and lots of fun, flowy single track. Expect this to be an ALL-DAY outing.
Our plan is to stop at East Caribou (halfway point) for a picnic lunch and swim before heading back. We estimate we will be out anywhere from 6-8 hours. Keep this in mind when planning your food for the day!
This is a group run for people who are comfortable running 25-30km on their own. While we try to make our group runs as inclusive to all abilities as possible, because of the remote nature of this trail this run is for more experienced runners only. We’d love to introduce you to trail running on our regularly scheduled Single Track Sunday which offers a more entry-level experience for newer (trail) runners (the next one is July 23)!
This is a self-supported run. Please ensure you come prepared with proper shoes, a hydration pack, and your essentials including but not limited to food/snacks (the rule of thumb is to pack enough food to last you 24h in the event you have an emergency), a first aid kit, and at least 1.5-2L of hydration with electrolytes. If you have a water filter or life straw pack it with extra electrolytes and gels just in case. Please review our additional recommended gear list, too.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and effort.
You can view the route here, or download a .gpx to load onto your watch.
Reminder: these are self-supported runs and you must pack your own water/hydration and snacks for the trail.
Hot Tip: Have a change of clothes and shoes for the ride home.
We may stop for a meal in West Hawk on the way home.
See you on the trail.
