Trail Work Day

  • Bear Lake Hiking Trail Parking Lot 49.83316668758601, -95.329077 (map)

Can you help us with trail work on April 22?

We’ll work on a portion of Centennial Trail from Powerline access to Telford tower access, in Whiteshell Provincial Park. We'll be getting our section of the trail ready for Suffer on the Centennial which is approaching fast in 8 weeks!

Meeting Time: 10 am @ the Bear Lake/ Hanson's Creek trailhead parking lot (pit toilet available on site).

Carpool Meet-up Time: 8 am, Prosper Street, across from the Tim Horton’s at 646 Archibald St, Winnipeg, MB. Carpooling is strongly encouraged. Please plan to arrive on time if you are interested in carpooling. We leave for the trailhead at 8:15 am

Plan: Expect to cover 9.4-12.4 kms over 4-6 hours of trail maintenance on the Centennial trail in Whiteshell Provincial Park.  We'll be getting our section of the trail ready for Suffer on the Centennial which is approaching fast in 8 weeks from the Powerline access to Telford Tower.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and effort, as we are planning this outing regardless of temperatures. With it being spring expect to get wet feet.

The outing will only be cancelled if inclement weather makes it unsafe to travel on highways on the day. Pack your water and snacks for the trail.

TIP: Have extra food, dry clothes, and shoes for the ride home.

What can I expect to be doing?
Trail work could include things like clearing dead-fall, trash clean up, trimming around trail signage, etc.

  • Participants will be required to use hand tools like loppers and/or portable saws.

  • Participants should be able to carry a pack with their own water/snacks for the day as well as have the stamina to cover the hike into the more remote areas of the trail MATR is responsible for.

Please complete this waiver if it’s your first time joining us for trail work in 2023 and email it to info@matr.ca before joining us.

DYK: MATR members earn UTofMB points for participating in trail work?
