Can you help us with trail work on June 3?
We’ll work on another portion of Centennial Trail in Whiteshell Provincial Park to help prep it for Suffer on Centennial. This event is a collaboration with Centennial Trail Association.
Trail work could include things like clearing dead-fall, trash clean up, trimming around trail signage, adding signage.
Trailhead Meeting Time: 8:45-9:00 am at the Alfred Hole Goose Sanctuary parking lot (Pit toilet available on site).
Carpool Meet-up Time: 7:00 am on Tache Ave, across from Big Sky Run Co (194 Tache - parking on the west side of Tache is not time restricted on Saturdays). We'll leave by 7:15 am. Carpooling is strongly encouraged. Please plan to arrive on time if you are interested in carpooling.
Plan: Expect to cover ~12 km over 6 hours of trail maintenance on the Centennial trail in Whiteshell Provincial Park. We’ll be working on the trail from the Powerline access to the Rock Ridge access.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and effort, as we are planning this outing regardless of temperature.
* Be ready for the bugs to be out in full force. We suggest wearing head nets, loose-fitting pants, long-sleeved shirts, and bug spray to make your day even more enjoyable. *
TIP: Have extra food, dry clothes, and shoes for the ride home. We may jump in Caddy Lake after, so bring a towel and suit if you’d like a cold plunge. Optional stop for food/drinks in West Hawk post-work.
What can I expect to be doing?
Trail work could include things like clearing dead-fall, trash clean up, trimming around trail signage, etc.
Participants will be required to use hand tools like loppers and/or portable saws.
Participants should be able to carry a pack with their own water/snacks for the day as well as have the stamina to cover the hike into the more remote areas of the trail MATR is responsible for.
Please complete this waiver if it’s your first time joining us for trail work in 2023 and email it to info@matr.ca before joining us.
