Presenting the Trails In Motion 9 Film Tour on March 26

Save the date for Trails in Motion 9 Film Tour, an annual international film and content showcase for the trail running community, by the trail running community, bringing a collection of the finest trail and ultra running films to passionate audiences around the world.

About the Event

When: March 26, 2022 at 7:00PM
Where: Gas Station Arts Centre
How much: $20

Doors open at 7PM, screening starts at 7:30PM.

We recognize that getting together with many people indoors may be a strange experience after almost two years of pandemic living. This event should be a reflection of our trail running community: welcoming and comfortable for everyone.

We are limiting ticket sales to 50% of the venue capacity.

  • Our capacity limit allows us to provide a positive experience for people who prefer to attend in small groups with some physical distance between their group and others.

  • Even if public health guidelines do not require masks to be worn in public spaces by March 26, we support people masking indoors according to their own level of comfort.

  • If you do not feel well within 24 hours of the event, we ask that you please stay home.

At the event

  • We'll screen the three short films back-to-back, hold a ~15 minute intermission, and then screen the long film.

  • We'll have a cash donation box to raise funds for initiatives on Centennial Trail at the event.

  • We'll have copies of Man on the Run by Mark Timmons for sale ($20 cash preferred).

  • We'll have an iPad on-site to process 2022 memberships, in case you haven't gotten yours yet ($20).

  • We have door prizes AND we'll draw the first THREE prizes for our UTofMB series, which awards points to MATR members for participating in local trail races and trail maintenance events!

  • The Gas Station Arts Centre operates a bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

  • You are welcome to sit together in large or small groups. Please be respectful of the personal space and comfort level of others and leave a seat or two between you and the next group.

Wild and Tough
Jim Walmsley is one of the world's most dynamic athletes and when his 2020 competitions were shut down due to COVID-19, he set his sights on setting a record on the Hardrock 100 course. Running fast on that course is always an audacious attempt and doing it alone would up the ante even more. The film details Jim's mindset going into the day, and what he takes away from it in the end.

Runtime: 22 minutes

The Sky Project
Follow elite ultrarunner Magda Boulet as she attempts to set the Fastest Known Time (FKT) on the 172-mile Tahoe Rim Trail. But, this is not your typical running film. As a mother, ex-Olympic marathoner, and VP of R&D at GU Energy Labs, Magda is a master at balancing her training with her career and time with her family. The film uses this super-human feat to dive into her motivations, perspective, and priorities.

Running The Roof
Three friends, bonded by a love of running, were desperate to ditch their desks and go on an adventure. This is a story without finish lines or medals. Rather it's about what happens when you trust in nothing but your own two feet, to carry you across one of the last truly wild landscapes on earth. Self-doubt, self-discovery and a whole lot of mountains. This film is a true adventure into the unknown.
