Single Track Sundays #4

Single Track Sunday

When: ~9:30 am at the trailhead
Where: Brandon Hills Wildlife Management Area
Carpool Info: 6:45 am at Big Sky Run Co at 194 Taché Ave. Please arrive on time if you'd like to carpool. We’re starting out from Winnipeg earlier due to the onset of summer heat and the longer drive time to Brandon Hills.

Brandon Hills features well-marked flowy, single track trails that are mostly hard-packed dirt (if it’s dry). There are some rooty sections to keep an eye on your footing. We’ve got a route just over 9km courtesy of Trails of Toba that’ll take us to BOTH the fire tower AND the blue punch buggies (visit the link to view or download a .gpx of the route. Although this is longer than our usual looped routes, please don’t be intimidated by the distance! There are trail maps at most intersections to help you navigate if you’d like to cut the route shorter. Due to the MANY intersections at Brandon Hills, we’ll do our best to put up a big of flagging tape at each intersection to help you follow the planned route.

Trail map of Brandon Hills Trail Systems. We suggest you download this or take a photo before we start our run.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and effort.

Pack your own water/hydration and snacks for the trail. Depending on the weather, we may hang out for a bit post-run or find a lake to jump in on the way home. Feel free to bring snacks or beverages to share afterwards.

Hot Tip: Have a change of clothes and shoes for the ride home.

These multi-use trails are lovingly maintained by The Westman Trail Association. Follow their Facebook page for information about when they organize trail work days.
